What’s most precious in your heart?

Our world is so full of instant gratification. Things are done so quickly, how we want it, with just a swipe and tap of a finger, sometimes with no face-to-face interaction. When we are so used to doing things this way, it’s easy to forget that our time is precious. We are precious. Who and what we give our time to fills us up. What we make time for shapes us.

Do we treat God this way? Do we talk to Him only when we need something, making it quick, and expecting results right away? The thing is, God doesn’t work that way. We don’t understand His ways, but His ways are good. He is gentle and strong. He is patient and bold. He takes His time cultivating the garden of our hearts. He plants. He prunes. He shapes. He devotes Himself to us.

Just like the Gospel today says, “No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other.” Let’s make time for the Lord. Let’s make a special place in our hearts just for Him that we can tend to just like He does. To love someone means to give your whole self. What master do you serve?
