Words on God’s Beauty from 5 Catholic Photographers

Words on God’s Beauty from 5 Catholic Photographers

From simple everyday moments at home, vibrant palettes of a sweeping landscape, or small details along a crack in the sidewalk—all these shapes, colors, and textures are an echo of the Creator among us.

How do we begin to notice this reality and truly treasure it? One way that brings this beauty alive in our lives is photography.

Photography teaches us to notice.
To pause.
To look again.

That’s why we’re so honored to have worked with a group of Catholic photographers for our new edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each of them brought not only their technical skill, but their prayerful vision as they captured the truth and beauty of God in small moments and sacred spaces.

We asked them to share their hearts—what inspires them, how their faith shapes their art, and where they encounter God in the creative process. We hope their light sparks your own creativity and appreciation for beauty.

Here’s what they shared with us:

“My work explores the windows to the soul—the place of intimacy where God knows no stranger. I photograph from His heart and thus welcome every person He brings before my lens, no matter the background and no matter the position.” // Frankie Garcia (@frankieluisgarcia on Instagram)

“Whether documenting the vibrant life of the Church or exploring justice, mercy, and hope, I strive to create in ways that invite contemplation, fosters connection, and deepens the understanding of Christ’s presence among us. My work is a response to a calling—to witness, to preserve, and to share stories that uplift and inspire." // James Ramos (@plusjames on Instagram)

"When I’m disconnected from my Creator, it becomes really easy to get disoriented in the creative world where everything feels scarce, competitive, and oversaturated. I begin looking left and right at what everyone else is doing, and I give in to the voice that wants me to shrink back. But when I listen to the voice of peace, the voice of the One who came so I would have life and have it abundantly, I’m able to remember that this has nothing to do with competition or performance but is about me becoming fully alive." // Annie Williams (@annietheby on Instagram)

“Creating is a way I connect with God, the Creator. When I use the artistic gifts He's given me, I'm not just making something—I'm honoring Him. It fills me with a deep sense of joy and purpose that's hard to put into words.” // Martin Jernberg (@martin.jernberg on Instagram)

"To create is, in many ways, to pray. In that way, my art becomes both a quiet echo of God’s voice and a whispered offering of love in return." // Christie Peters (@christie_vaughn on Instagram)

We are in awe of these photographers for their talent and their faith. Now when you crack open your copy of the Catechism, you'll see the rich beauty of the Church on every page. What a gift!

A prayer to pray today:

God of all beauty, open my eyes to Your presence in the world around me. Teach me to see with wonder, create with joy, and reflect Your light in everything I do.
