This past Sunday, we celebrated the feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Jesus. This Friday (June 7th!) we’re celebrating the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Church is inviting us into a relationship with the person of Jesus—real, alive, and here for us.
If building a relationship with Him has been a struggle lately, here are 3 ideas for spending time with Jesus more intentionally:
Find a local Adoration chapel. Sit in the actual presence of the Blessed Sacrament regularly (once a week, once a month, etc.). Making a commitment to visit Jesus in the physical way will create special room in your life for relationship to grow.
Read His Word. Start with the Gospels, and get to know the real life that Jesus lived on earth. Read closely His teachings and His encounters with others. Make note of what He was like and which stories resonate most with you personally.
Make Sunday Mass a priority. Read the readings ahead of time, and pray with them even after you close your journal. Remind yourself of the truth of the Eucharist before you receive each week—that Jesus is fully present there for you individually to love and be loved by Him.
How has Jesus become real to you? How can you get to know Him more?
