Doesn't it feel like the days are flying by this time of year?
We have only a few weeks of Ordinary Time snuck in between the busy season of Christmas and the packed season of Lent, but it's worth it to make them count.
Before you start planning your fasts and prayer practices for the desert, pause and be present in this season of growth, greens, and goodness.
Here are a few ideas:
Make a plan // It's easy to overcommit and give up when nothing sticks. However, moving through the season without clear intentions also leaves us with confused hearts and floating minds. Make a few key goals and plan out time for prayer throughout the week (but remember — keep things short and realistic!)
Go minute by minute // Sometimes the simplest thing we can do is give the Lord just a little bit more of our time. Try prepping for Mass ahead of time by reading the Sunday readings on Friday. Or, take a moment to write your intentions down before Mass so they stay at the front of your mind. (Plus, a quick minute of prayer often turns into longer quality time with God!)
Keep track! // Make note of your steps toward goodness! When you make time to prep for Mass, pray to start your day, or fit in the Sacraments, write down the grace that you receive. Make note of what God is doing in your heart!
His faithfulness is the same in the past, present, and future. His heart is for you, no matter what.
