Fasting in Lent // 3 Ways to Stay Strong

Lent comes around every year, and sometimes it can make us anxious.

What should I give up? How should I fast? Is it enough?

Whatever your plans are for these 40 days, remember that the Lord invited you to do them for a reason. How you’re praying, what you’re sacrificing, how you’re loving others — it’s all a gift from God to offer back to Him.

Here are a few ideas on staying strong in your fasts and prayer plans:

  1. Remember your “why” // There was something stirring in your heart when you decided to give up XYZ or pray in a certain way. Go back to that conversation with God. Why did He ask you to do this?

  2. Write it down // When our prayers and goals float around in our minds, it’s easy to lose track of them! Write down what’s on your heart and what your daily actions are so you can stay accountable and inspired.

  3. Take it day by day // Don’t look ahead and assume that you will fail. On the other hand, don’t look back and give up if you missed a day or two. Focus on the present, give God your heart today, and keep moving through the season with Him.

He wants to help you follow through, little by little. You don’t have to do it on your own.
