Simple Ideas to Live More Liturgically

It's been a joy to share the new 2024-25 Mass Journals with you! Check them out right here.

(P.S. Did you choose blue or red? We love both so much!!)

This year, there’s another exciting thing about the launch of the journals: every Mass journal order will come with a FREE Liturgical Calendar digital download, to help us all live liturgically in this next year!

Why “live liturgically”?

Living in step with the Church's calendar is a beautiful thing. By honoring feast days, celebrating Solemnities, and living each liturgical season to the fullest, we unite our prayer with the entire universal Church. It's like praying together with our huge family!

Here are 3 ideas to live liturgically:

  1. On the 1st of every month, look ahead on the calendar and see what feast days are coming up. Pick one or two Saints that stand out to you, and make a plan to honor them in some intentional way on their feast. (Make note of any holy days of obligation, too!)

  2. Hang your calendar somewhere visible. Each week, keep track of the days you pray with the Mass readings, even from daily Mass! If any readings made a particular impact on you, write them down on the day you read them.

  3. Match your space to the current liturgical season! If it’s Ordinary Time, maybe place a green plant on your desk. Maybe in Lent, hang up something purple in your bedroom. The options are endless, and the art on the ESS liturgical calendar is great inspiration!
